Body weigth exercises for jiu jitsu

I am a brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) competitor. My sport requires alot of strength, of all types. Explosive strength that comes with traditional weight lifting is useful but not essential for BJJ. The type of muscular strength that I find usefull is muscular endurance, or the ability to move weight over a certain period of time. This type of strength I gain from doing body weight exercise. I feel that it has enhanced my game far more than traditional weight programs could have.

Body weight Exercise (continued)

As said before I am a big supporter of body weight exercise. The reason being is that I am a competitor in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. The sport requires a lot of strength but not strength that comes from squating 450 pounds. It demands a high capacity for muscle fatigue. I engage in numerous bodyweight exercises on a daily basis, things such as push ups, wall squats, pull-ups, and jumping jacks. These type of exercises increase muscle capacity to hold and control my own bodyweight therefore increasing my BJJ conditioning.

Another assumption about this type of thinking is that you can't get strong or be fit using anything but typical weight and exercise. These misconceptions about exercise lead many people to think that body weight exercises are not very effective in enhancing the strength component of health related fitness. These types of exercises used properly can effectively enhance one's health. Costing next to nothing a person can utilize a steady routine of simple exercises to work on your strength. Using simple exercises like push-ups, lunges, wall squats, weightless squats, and like exercises you can effectively target major muscle groups.
