Last Blog
So blogging was a new thing for me, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I hope that my blog entertained some people. I doubt that many people read it but thats ok, for me it was kind of a venting tool. Most importantly it was an easy ten points to get for Tech PETE!!! So this will be my last blog, later gator!

Praxis
Well all the talk about the praxis test kind of has me worried! Although I am in pretty good shape with my credits, I really need to pass the praxis and get it over with. If there is one thing that hold a lot of students back in the education major it seems to be the praxis. It almost seems like a nasty word in my mind. Well when the pressure is on I usually do well so we will see whats up!

Submission vs. Points
One thing I have noticed about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions is that many people ride out the clock to win on points. In my eyes this goes against what Helio Gracie's visions were for BJJ. Although I realize he never really wanted it to become the "sport" that it is today, BJJ is essentialy self defense and the sport aspect is just a bonus. Watching many people compete this weekend its scary how many people get a takedown, and then preceed to stall the entire match to squeak by one points! Submission is the name of the game, it signifies total defeat and it leaves your opponent with no excuses. I am happy to say out of the 19 wins I have accumulated I submitted 17 of my opponents. I have only won on points one time, and a decision for the other non-sub victory. Go for the SUB!!!

Post Arnold Classic
In my last blog I wrote about the Arnold Classic. It lived up to the hype and there was easily over 100,000 people at the convention center. It looked like a refugee camp! The competition was tough this year, NAGA (north american grappling association) is the largest amateur event at the arnold classic. I lost my first no-gi match 6-4 to Jeremy Ashley, who end up taking first place. Later on in the day I competed in the blue belt gi division and I took second. I submitted three opponents and lost in the finals 2-0. Overall I was pretty happy with the results, especially because it is the toughest tournament in the Midwest.
